Consider the value.
We all know that when we put an arrow into a piece of steel, a rock, or any unyielding object, the arrow breaks. The reason for this is is because the arrow has too much force and momentum and will fail at the weakest point, which until now, was the wooden shaft. By transferring the weakest point of an arrow from the middle of the arrow where the wood is, to the “tang” at the back of the head, and then reinforcing the bamboo at the tip with a brass collar, the arrow will fail at THAT spot rather than the bamboo shaft. What this means is that the arrow point can be gently straightened or perhaps replaced. The rest of the arrow is just fine! How much do you spend on broken wooden arrows in a year? I have only broken ONE black arrow in my quiver in the last year.
These heads are not only incredibly hard to destroy, but like all high carbon steel, they aren’t brittle steel, they are flexible. The fitted brass collar helps protect the end of the bamboo arrow when a mishap occurs.
The weakest spot in any wooden arrow is the arrow shaft itself. Bamboo is no exception. However, when you transfer the weakest point to the back of the head, and combine the flexibility of good high carbon steel with a tough HIGH QUALITY bamboo arrow shaft, then the arrow survives.
There are 3 style of arrow points to choose from. All are hand forged and they all match in weight.
I have looked for a matched set of these types of heads for over 20 years. I have never seen a matched set of 12 arrow heads of this style before. To my knowledge, these matched heads are unobtainable anywhere else. Made of hand forged high carbon steel, and guaranteed to match within 5 grains across the entire set of heads, and each set will come in matching weights of 100 grains, 125 grains, 145 grains, 165 grain heads, and 190 grains.
NOTE: THE ROUND TARGET POINTS HAVE TWO DIFFERENT DIAMETERS. FOR LIGHTLY SPINED SHAFTS (BELOW 35 POUNDS OF STATIC SPINE) YOU WILL WANT THE “SKINNY” HEADS WHICH ARE VERY SLIGHTLY NARROWER THAN 3/8 INCHES. FOR THOSE ARROW SHAFTS ABOVE 35 POUNDS OF STATIC SPINE, YOU WILL WANT THE “FAT” HEADS WHICH ARE 3/8 INCHES IN DIAMETER.
In the photo above left, you can see a “skinny” and “fat” version of the 125 grain round target head, and a 145 grain round target head.
This is the first real breakthrough in wooden arrows since the spine tester! They offer real step forward in arrow durability.
